More phantom price drops at Tesla

This is becoming a very ugly habit at Tesla. They announce a great discount on non-existent stock models.

The message published since Tuesday, July 16, on the Tesla Site is nevertheless unequivocal: Discover our Model Y in inventory, available starting from 36,990 euros. Including a Tesla bonus of 4,000 euros and the government ecological bonus of 4,000 euros. No traps in the special conditions: Valid on preconfigured Model Y in stock (except for the Long Range Propulsion Model Y) ordered between July 15 and August 31 and delivered until September 30, 2024, included.

With the Model Y listed in the catalog at 44,990 euros, if we deduct these combined 8,000 euros, we are indeed at 36,990 euros. Great!!! Let’s hurry to check the inventory of available stock to order a Model Y.

We naturally set the filter to “All deliverable products,” because at this price we are ready to travel across France to pick up a Model Y, and off we go. The first available vehicle, a beautiful new white Model Y at 36,990 euros and… a mileage of 55 kilometers? This means it’s an unregistered car but has already been driven a little for demonstration purposes. We cannot know who was driving it, what they did with the car and when, so we will wisely pass on this one. The second available car, still a new white Propulsion without mileage and… at 38,180 euros! Certainly not, we don’t care about the options, we want a Tesla Y Propulsion at 36,990 as promised by Tesla yesterday. Well, that will be impossible because there are none available.

Tesla France has tricked us before. We patiently waited until the end of the offer to see if more models would join the stock, but nothing, zero, nada. We only had, just like with the Model Y, one low-mileage example which, by the way, did not sell. This is not a misleading offer, but it’s also not an honest and fair offer. We’ll wait until August 31; a truck might arrive by then.
