OFFICIAL: Here is the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD!

Tesla first launches the Long Range version of the Model 3 in the United States. Coming soon to France?

It was a foregone conclusion. For months, Mobiwisy has been announcing the imminent arrival of a Long Range version of the Model 3 Propulsion. Why? Because its technical base is strictly identical to that of the Model Y, which has also recently offered a rear-wheel drive version equipped with a new battery that is both more generous and yet lighter. Another trick: Tesla allows customers to increase the range of their Model Y Propulsion for a small fee. Proof that Tesla batteries have more to offer…

The Tesla Model 3 Long Range (PGA) is not a true new creation either. It existed several years ago, at the launch of the first generation in 2017. In the United States, where it has been available since Friday, July 12, 2024, this Model 3 Long Range is offered at $3,500 (approximately €3,200 excluding taxes) more than the simple Propulsion variant.

This is much more expensive than the same logic on the Model Y where the difference is €2,000 in France, for example. However, in the United States, this Model 3 Long Range is eligible for the maximum federal rebate of $7,500, unlike the simple Propulsion version. This is a matter of battery origin. Thus, this new Tesla Model 3 PGA drops to $34,990 excluding tax across the Atlantic.

Amazing performance!

In terms of mechanics, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range boosts the range (according to US homologation standards) from 272 to 363 miles (or from 437 to 583 km), which is an increase of about 145 km. It’s also 35 km more than the All-Wheel Drive Long Range version, which costs $5,000 excluding taxes more.

In terms of acceleration, the 0 to 100 km/h time improves from 6 to 5 seconds, a phenomenon we have already seen with the Tesla Model Y Long Range.

Now the question is when this version will cross the Atlantic, which would imply that its production would be American and no longer Chinese. Perhaps a solution to circumvent the higher import taxes since July 4, 2024?
