Nissan surpasses one million electric vehicles sold

In December 2010, the brand launched the Leaf model, and twelve years later, the one millionth vehicle has been sold.

During a time when almost all automakers have an electric model, Nissan reached the milestone of one million vehicles sold, notably with the significant help of the Nissan Leaf, created in 2010.

Nissan Leaf is the best-selling electric vehicle

Since its inception in 2010, the model has sold over 650,000 units worldwide, including 263,000 in Europe, an astonishing number.

320,000 vehicles sold in Europe

In its statement, the manufacturer announced its electric model sales worldwide. It turns out that the old continent has the highest number of sales, ahead of China, with 320,000 sales, compared to 230,000 in Japan and China. North America has sold more than 210,000 Nissan electric vehicles. Note that these figures were reported as of June 30th.

In comparison, Tesla sold nearly 2 million vehicles in two years

The American brand sold twice as many vehicles in two years. In 2022, the company sold 1.3 million electric vehicles, more than Nissan’s total in twelve years. In the first half of 2022, Tesla exceeded 888,000 vehicles sold.
