Lucy Li Aces a Hole-in-one and Wins a €150,000 BMW i7

American golfer Lucy Li made a remarkable achievement at the BMW Ladies Championship, winning an electric limousine.

That’s what you call a perfect drive. During the first day of the BMW Ladies Championship 2025, played on the stunning Pine Beach Golf Links course near Gwangju (South Korea), American Lucy Li achieved the shot that all golfers dream of: a hole-in-one.

And not just any hole: on the 13th hole, a par 3 of about 155 yards (approximately 142 meters), the 23-year-old player took out her 7-iron… and watched her ball fly straight into the hole. The result: a shout of joy, hearty applause, and a brand-new BMW i7 eDrive50 as a reward.

The Californian golfer, currently ranked 97th in the world, has not yet secured a victory on the LPGA Tour since her debut in 2023. But this Thursday, she made a big impact, literally and figuratively. With a score of 68 (–4), Lucy Li placed herself in the top 25 of the provisional standings, led by South Korean players Sei Young Kim (62, –10) and Hyo Joo Kim (63, –9).

And the good news is that the show is just beginning. Since the BMW Ladies Championship has no “cut,” all 78 participants will play four rounds, with two more cars to be won for upcoming holes-in-one: a MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 on hole 8, and a BMW iX—all electric—on hole 15.

This isn’t the first time the Korean tournament has made winners happy: in 2019, Kristen Gillman was the first to drive away in a BMW 740Li xDrive after a hole-in-one on the 13th. Then in 2022, the audience experienced an incredible “Super Saturday”: two players, Na Yeon Choi and Ariya Jutanugarn, scored holes-in-one on the same day, each leaving with a BMW X7 and a BMW 740i respectively.
