BYD ATTO2: a version with extended range nearing release?

The small Chinese electric SUV BYD ATTO2, already available in Europe, is expected to soon feature a 51.3 kWh battery.

Are our suspicions about to be confirmed? At the end of August 2025, Mobiwisy announced a very significant discount of 7,000 euros on the BYD ATTO2 to clear stock. The simplest explanation in such cases is the upcoming release of an updated version. Which seems to be the case.

In Australia, where pollution standards aligned with European WLTP regulations—mandating homologation—BYD is beginning sales of an unprecedented ATTO2. It’s hard to believe that the manufacturer developed and homologated a new version solely for the limited Australian auto market.

Higher Range and Faster Charging Power

The BYD ATTO2 is relatively unpopular in Europe for various reasons. First, its price is not competitive compared to peers like the Skoda Elroq or the entry-level Renault 4. Additionally, its technical specifications are currently underwhelming, with only a 45 kWh gross battery and a 312 km range in mixed cycle—though realistically around 250 km. Complimented by limited charging power of 65 kW.

The arrival of an updated version of the BYD ATTO2 has been anticipated. The version shown in Australia slightly improves the picture, but nothing groundbreaking either.

The new battery increases to 51.3 kWh, providing a range of 345 km (+33 km), and charging power rises to 82 kW. The onboard AC charger remains well positioned at 11 kW.

However, competitors do slightly better, reaching a recharge rate of 100 kW. To move the BYD ATTO2, the mechanics remain unchanged, with an electric motor delivering 130 kW (177 hp) for lively performance. Equipment is also very generous.

Market launch could occur in Europe before the end of 2025.
