Leapmotor B05: Disruptive Prices That Already Worry European Manufacturers

With a range of up to 482 km and a starting price of 25,400 euros, the new Leapmotor B05 stands out.

With its new B05, Leapmotor makes a strong impact on the French electric car market. The Chinese brand, backed by Stellantis, officially opens orders for its sporty electric sedan starting at 25,400 euros. This particularly aggressive pricing strategy could quickly pressure European manufacturers already struggling in the affordable electric vehicle segment.

The Leapmotor B05 is distinguished by a dynamic design with coupe-like proportions, frameless doors, and meticulous aerodynamics. Measuring 4.43 meters in length, it claims a drag coefficient of just 0.26 to optimize efficiency and range. Its electric motor, delivering 218 hp and 240 Nm of torque, combined with a rear-wheel-drive architecture, allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Everything but a discounted car!

But the real shock argument remains its price/performance ratio. From the LIFE trim level, the 56.2 kWh battery promises up to 401 km of WLTP range. The ProMax version with a 67.1 kWh battery increases the range to 482 km with a starting price of 27,400 euros. At the top of the range, the DESIGN trim is priced at 28,400 euros with enhanced features.

The Leapmotor B05 also comes with comprehensive technology: a 14.6-inch central display, digital instrumentation, fast charging up to 174 kW allowing a charge from 30 to 80% in 17 minutes, level 2 semi-autonomous driving, and 21 driver assistance systems.
