The Las Vegas Sheriff Patrols in a Tesla Cybertruck

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill unveiled a fleet of ten sleek Tesla Cybertrucks on October 28th.

These futuristic pickups, often considered either too massive or too unconventional for the general public, have found a mission that suits them perfectly: assisting officers in critical interventions, such as barricades or shooting situations. Each local command will receive at least one unit, turning the Cybertruck into a true “road tank” on the streets of Las Vegas.

While Tesla struggles to sell this model to the civilian market, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) demonstrates that its rugged features and transport capacity can have an unexpected but crucial use. Range, durability, storage space for tactical gear: everything is designed so these vehicles meet the needs of modern patrols.

The fleet was funded by a generous donation from Ben and Felicia Horowitz, with no use of public funds. The Cybertrucks were outfitted for police use by Unplugged Performance and Upfit and customized by Ink and Architectural Expo, highlighting the importance of private partnerships in innovation serving security.

Since his election, Kevin McMahill has made technological modernization a priority, with initiatives like the Joint Emergency Training Institute, a first-responder drone unit, and remote-controlled drones. The arrival of the Cybertrucks confirms this vision: a police department capable of leveraging the most advanced technologies to protect its citizens.
