After a long period of dormancy, Lancia regains its ambition and prepares to shift towards 100% electric vehicles.

The merger between PSA and FCA allows Lancia to view the future differently. The Italian manufacturer, which has limited itself to its home market for several years, has already implemented a fairly ambitious plan. It has just announced that it will give a preview of what it is preparing through a new concept car. The presentation will take place during the Milan Design Week, scheduled for April.

What will this new Lancia encompass? Will it be a concept far removed from reality, or rather a first sketch outlining the contours of an upcoming model? The question remains unanswered for now, as Lancia has provided no other information besides the presentation date.

A new electric Lancia Ypsilon comes next year

The resurrection operation of Lancia will truly kick off with the new Ypsilon, arriving in 2024. Symbolically, this model will be important for the manufacturer: it is indeed the one that will open the era of fully electric Lancias. Two years later, a vehicle described as a real “flagship” will join the lineup. Finally, Lancia plans to relaunch the Delta in 2028, the year by which the brand will have definitively moved away from thermal engines.

Alongside the product plan, Stellantis is working on a new distribution network, which will allow Lancia to break free from its Italian isolation. In total, 100 showrooms will open across Europe. Despite the deployment of these branches, online sales will still be prioritized.

Through this major offensive, Carlos Tavares’ group aims to make the Italian firm “a credible, respected, and desirable brand within the premium segment in Europe.” An objective that brands like DS or even Alfa Romeo would not deny. Managing the coexistence of all these brands will likely not be easy!
