KIA EV9: its sales exceed all expectations!

The enormous electric SUV from KIA is appealing. These are not just assumptions, but sales figures that tell the story!

It is large, it is expensive, it is borderline in terms of ecological acceptability – even if a thermal equivalent would pollute even more, the KIA EV9 is a commercial success.

Launched and marketed in 2023 (notably in France), the KIA EV9 is primarily designed for the United States where there is a strong preference for XXL vehicles. In just a few months, nearly 50,000 units have been sold worldwide. And the pace shows no signs of slowing with an average of 3,000 monthly sales now.

Are prices about to drop?

KIA’s success with the EV9 could soon allow for a price reduction as sales plateau. Indeed, the amortization will have been quicker than anticipated. One might even speculate another idea: that KIA never aimed to make a profit from the EV9, but rather to create buzz.

Indeed, the resolutely minimalist and impressive design of this SUV will now trickle down to the rest of the lineup, with the EV3, EV4, and EV5 models on the way. If you can’t afford an electric SUV priced over €70,000 in France, you can always opt for the smaller brother at €45,000…
