KIA EV3: It Has Everything to Please Except for Its Price

KIA unveiled the EV3 in May, a new fully electric compact SUV with a WLTP range of up to 600 km.

To claim this record range despite smaller battery sizes, KIA has developed several interesting technologies for its compact SUV, including intelligent regenerative braking.

The latest i-Pedal 3.0 technology offers drivers much more flexibility and control by separating the level of regenerative braking from the full stop control function. One-pedal driving can now be used in all regenerative braking modes, while the i-Pedal 3.0 can also be optionally used in reverse. The system can be activated by simply pulling the left steering paddle for more than a second. Regenerative braking levels are rated from 0 to 3, with level 3 providing the strongest braking, ideal for driving in heavy traffic. Level 2 offers slightly less braking force, a perfect setting on winding roads. Finally, during a long highway drive, levels 1 or even level 0 allow the EV3 to coast freely when the pedal is released.

The KIA EV3 is also equipped with Hyundai’s Smart Regenerative System 3.0. This system provides the driver with a digital co-pilot capable of scanning the road ahead and reacting to situations at lightning speed. The intelligent regenerative system is activated by holding down the right steering paddle for more than a second and integrates autonomous driving technology with regenerative braking. When the driver releases the accelerator pedal, the system uses sensors to detect the distance to the vehicle in front and navigation information to automatically decelerate to a safe speed, if necessary.

The KIA EV3 was launched in South Korea in July 2024 and is expected to be announced in Europe in the second half of this year. French pricing should be communicated soon, but in our neighboring Belgium, the starting price has been set at 41,190 euros.
