Kia does not abandon its beautiful electric sedan project

The Concept EV4 presented in Los Angeles more than a year ago by Kia should finally hit the roads in 2025.

While SUVs are more popular than ever, Kia has embarked on the daring exercise of reimagining the electric sedan. A risky gamble, but so refreshing in a time when taller and heavier becomes the norm to only face urban jungle.

The Concept EV4 thus offers a renewed vision of the electric sedan, based on clean shapes and well-defined lines. This four-door model provides a balance between complex geometric volumes, characteristic of Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, and simple forms.

With its taut lines, lowered hood, and elongated silhouette, the Concept EV4 draws inspiration from sports cars. The front features vertical headlights placed at the extremities which enhance the vehicle’s width, while a discreet spoiler emphasizes its overall dynamism. The whole design favors a direct and coherent approach, without aesthetic excess. Ultimately, it is less divisive than an EV6 and much more dynamic than an EV3.

The interior layout emphasizes a sense of openness to the outside, despite the glass surfaces being necessarily reduced compared to an SUV. A retractable control panel and adjustable air vents add a practical touch to the overall design. Kia’s choice of materials, such as recycled cotton and woven textiles, demonstrates an effort to incorporate more responsible practices while maintaining a sober aesthetic.

The strength of this Concept EV4 lies in offering a reflection on how to design electric vehicles today. It’s not just a styling exercise but a car that would fit into our environment and would turn a few heads.
