One might think that this small SUV with an adventurer look would remain just a design concept, but Hyundai has decided to bring it to life.
Hyundai will indeed market its Inster Cross, a “mud-burrowing” variant of its small 100% electric city car. This version offers a more rugged design and additional equipment. According to Hyundai UK, the model will be available in the UK starting from £28,745, approximately €33,000, which is £2,000 more than the current top-tier version, the Inster 02. In France, it is reasonable to assume that the price should be below €30,000 because the 5-door version of the Inster is eligible for the Eco Bonus. For marketing impact, let’s estimate it at €29,990.
The Inster Cross is based on the same technical platform as the Inster 02, with a 49 kWh battery and a 114 hp motor, offering a range of up to 360 km WLTP cycle. This model positions itself between ultra-economical options like the Dacia Spring and more premium models such as the BYD Dolphin or Kia EV3.
What sets the Inster Cross apart from its counterparts are its unique stylistic elements, including specific 17-inch alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, widened side skirts, black plastic protective body cladding, roof rails, and an exclusive new shade called Amazons Green Matte. Inside, it features a new gray and lime green finish.

The Inster Cross also enhances its standard equipment with an electric sunroof, a parking camera with guidance, and new driver assistance features such as collision avoidance assistance in blind spots and a panoramic vision monitor. Like the Inster 02, it features two 10.25-inch digital screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, heated front seats and steering wheel, full LED lighting, and front and rear parking sensors. A tech pack is also available, including V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) functionality with an internal socket and a digital key.
