Hyundai Wants to Convert Us to MPV, What a Great Idea!
The Hyundai STARIA combines generous space, modularity, and 100% electric mobility to reinvent the large MPV.
The concept of MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), or large MPV, claimed by the Hyundai STARIA was first launched by Renault with the Espace in the 1980s. These vehicles distinguished themselves by their spaciousness, modularity, and interior comfort, rather than their exterior style. With the rise of SUVs, MPVs gradually disappeared from the European markets, supplanted by more “status-oriented” models. Today, the trend is reversing: manufacturers are rediscovering the potential of MPVs, suited to family and professional needs, and Hyundai is part of this dynamic with the STARIA Electric, a large electric MPV designed for comfort and functionality.

Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show 2026, the STARIA Electric is the first 100% electric version of the STARIA range. It combines a 160 kW (218 hp) electric motor with a high-capacity 84 kWh battery integrated into an 800 V architecture. This technology allows for ultra-fast DC charging, from 10 to 80% in about 20 minutes, while ensuring a projected range of 400 km according to the WLTP cycle. Front-wheel drive and instant torque guarantee smooth and silent driving, even at full load, while a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 kg makes it a versatile vehicle for family or professional use.
Range, Space, and Modularity
The interior adopts Hyundai’s “Inside-Out” concept, where the vehicle’s exterior complements the onboard experience. The flat floor, large glass surfaces, and modular seating create a “lounge” atmosphere and offer optimal freedom of movement. Two versions will be available: Luxury (7-seater), aimed at families and leisure, and Wagon (9-seater), suited for larger families and shuttle services. The cargo space varies from 435 to 1,303 liters depending on the configuration, and the cabin easily adapts to daily needs.

The 800 V electric architecture optimizes efficiency and allows for repeated fast charging. The battery and electric motor ensure stable and predictable consumption, even on long journeys or with full load. The bi-directional V2L function allows for powering external devices, while high-power USB ports and the digital key enhance the daily usability of the vehicle, reinforcing its practicality in all situations.
