Ford Puma Gen-E: the 2026 model year increases its range

The small electric SUV from Ford, the Puma, will see its range increase to 400 km starting next year. Is this enough to make it relevant?

The Ford Puma Gen-E didn’t take long to evolve. Barely launched, the small electric crossover from the oval brand is already set to receive a major update for the 2026 model year. And the star of the day is clearly the range: Ford is announcing over 400 km per charge, up from 376 km previously. A real psychological boost for a model that Ford is pleased with in terms of sales volume in Europe…

The brand has revamped the battery design, and it pays off. The Puma Gen-E version 2026 exceeds 550 km of urban range. For a small electric SUV, this is an interesting leap that places it back among the leaders in the versatile models of its segment.

BlueCruise autonomous driving available

So far, the Puma Gen-E has primarily attracted attention due to its efficiency (13.1 kWh/100 km claimed) and driving pleasure. With this increased range, it finally becomes a credible companion for longer trips, not just for daily commutes. However, Ford remains secretive about the battery capacity and its new charging power. Until now, the battery displayed 43 kWh net and up to 100 kW charging.

Another notable new feature is the introduction of the hands-free driving system BlueCruise. The Puma thus becomes the smallest Ford model available with this technology, authorized in 16 European countries. This allows for a more relaxing drive on long trips on “Blue Zones” highways. Not yet widespread, but clearly an added selling point for a higher-end model.

The improvement in range strengthens a model already well positioned, without altering its pricing tier, which is more accessible than that of a Mustang Mach-E or other family SUVs. However, it still remains quite high to be an obvious choice for daily use.

Priced from 32,990 euros before the CEE Prime, the Puma Gen-E competes with the Renault Megane E-Tech, for example. The Ford will be available in spring 2026, and its new pricing will be known at that time.
