The Ecological Bonus Disappears in the United Kingdom
This page is translated from the original post "Le bonus écologique disparaît au Royaume-Uni" in French.

There will always be support, but not for new passenger cars.
Created to facilitate the transition to electric mobility, the eco-bonus is a scheme that is set to disappear sooner or later. While it still exists in France, it is now a thing of the past on the other side of the Channel.
The United Kingdom has indeed decided to remove the aid provided for purchasing an electric car, which was implemented in 2011. Over there, the bonus was much less attractive than in France. The amount was set at 1,500 pounds, which is a little over 1,700 €. Additionally, all cars sold for more than 32,000 pounds (about 37,000 euros) were excluded from the scheme.
The UK government believes that the electric market will support the disappearance of the bonus very well. It also wishes to remind that the reduction in aid over the years and the tightening of conditions have not had a significant impact on sales.
Now, the UK aims to focus on expanding the charging station network and promoting electric propulsion in other vehicle categories. Scooters, trucks, and taxis will still be eligible for purchase assistance. The budget allocated to this new phase of support amounts to 300 million pounds, which will be added to the 2.5 billion already invested in developing electric mobility.
In France, a maintained bonus but soon to be reduced
In France, the maximum bonus for purchasing an electric car is €6,000. It is reserved for new models sold for less than €45,000. For cars priced between €45,000 and €60,000, the aid is €2,000. And for anything above €60,000, the French government no longer offers any purchase assistance.
The bonus scheme will be modified starting July 1, 2022. The aid amount will decrease by €1,000.
