Great Deal: The Latest Bluecars Available for Only €6,000!

The Bluecar is certainly outdated technologically, but at this price, it can still be interesting.

Buying back Bluecars from the Bolloré group after the Autolib bankruptcy, then refurbishing them and selling to individuals: this was the gamble attempted by the Lorient-based company Autopuzz in 2018. The idea was clearly not bad, as a large part of the 3,500 cars put up for sale found buyers.

Currently, about 180 Bluecars remain for sale. In accordance with Autopuzz’s commitments, these cars have been cleaned and serviced. The Breton company also changes brakes, suspensions, and other wear parts.

The latest Bluecars are sold starting at €5,990 without paint. Models with paint start at €7,490. These are affordable prices, to which the €1,000 bonus for buying a used car and the conversion premium for those eligible can be subtracted. By combining all these aids, the price can drop to a symbolic euro.

Low Price, Limited Features

While the offer is financially attractive, it’s important to remember that living with a Bluecar can sometimes be complicated. With a top speed limited to 110 km/h, this four-seater vehicle is not very comfortable on major highways. But the biggest constraint probably comes from its lithium-metal-polymer battery, which discharges even when stationary. The only way to avoid this issue is to plug the car into the network to keep the battery at temperature, and thus consume more power… Admittedly, battery drain also occurs with lithium-ion batteries, but to a much lesser extent.

Regarding range, the Bluecar performs rather honorably for a car of its era, with 250 km city and 150 km outside urban areas (theoretical numbers). It thus outperforms a Citroën C Zero (120 km), a model that can also be found for around €6,000 on the used market.
