Will Teslas Finally Learn How to Park?

Elon Musk has promised to soon provide a solution to Tesla’s automatic parking issues.

There is an urban legend claiming that Teslas do not have an Auto Park option unlike most modern cars. This is false. And the reality is that they are indeed equipped with it but do not always know how to use it. Let’s just remember that whether or not they have rear radars, or 360° video, it’s essential to first ensure that the car has the latest software updates. That’s the basics.

The latest version of the Tesla Model 3 is equipped with the “Auto Park” feature, but the advanced technologies of its competitors far surpass it. In this system, the car autonomously identifies parking spots, but it is not possible to choose between different locations! The car locks onto the one it has selected, often the closest and/or the largest. Of course, the driver must remain inside the vehicle to maintain manual control if necessary… which, according to users, usually involves small steering corrections or a slight press on the brake pedal. It’s not inherently a bad system, but it seems very un reassuring!

But all this will soon be a thing of the past, according to Elon Musk, thanks to an innovation ready to be launched, called “tap to park”, which can be translated as “touch to park”. A major evolution, but it is not specified with which finger…

We all want our cars to find a suitable parking space and park without any human intervention. This is possible, according to Elon Musk, who claims Tesla is working on a feature that allows the car to identify probable and viable parking spots. These spots will then appear on the 360° view screen, and the driver will only have to tap the one they prefer, exit the vehicle, and let it park itself.
