And Tesla Invents Sporty Autonomous Driving

Elon Musk is a recognized prince of excess, and he proves it once again. The autonomous FSD mode on Tesla is too aggressive? He adds a sports mode!

On Teslas, as on nearly all cars on the market, multiple driving modes are offered. To simplify, let’s mention the three most well-known. An ECO or COMFORT mode that softens the response of the accelerator pedal to your inputs to reduce jolts and consumption. This very popular mode often comes with a softer steering and, if the car’s technology allows, more flexible suspensions. Conversely, the SPORT mode offers a more direct response to the accelerator, a more direct steering, minimized driver assistance, and of course all the engine’s potential. Finally, in the middle, there is the NORMAL mode, which the manufacturer considers a balanced compromise for everyday use.

So Tesla!

An X (formerly Twitter) user pointed out to Elon Musk that the CHILL mode or relaxation, equivalent to the COMFORT mode in Tesla’s FSD (Full Self Driving) autonomous driving, was too rough. He then asked if it was possible to offer a TURTLE mode, even gentler.

The brief response from the outspoken boss did not wait, and Musk confirmed that a very special mode was in the works, the… HURRY mode! So, an even more aggressive mode than SPORT. So, who’s the king of the comeback? After all, why shouldn’t the AI managing Autopilot have the right to go have some fun by taking advantage of the car’s full potential? In terms of safety and passenger comfort, it’s frankly borderline, but it clearly demonstrates Musk’s absolute confidence in his autonomous technology.

More seriously, as Tesla prepares to deploy FSD technology outside the United States, starting with China, it is certain that the feedback from test drivers will be taken very seriously by Tesla’s engineers. And when everything is perfectly fine, why not enjoy a little thrill with this nice HURRY mode?
