Alfa Romeo is now an electric brand

Alfa Romeo electric

Driven by the success of its new models, Alfa Romeo is accelerating its transition to 100% electric in France.

The shift is now well underway for Alfa Romeo. In France, nearly one in two orders today concerns a 100% electric model since the beginning of April. A symbolic milestone for the Italian brand, long associated with its robust thermal engines.

This success largely relies on the new electric versions of the compact SUV Alfa Romeo Junior, notably the Elettrica (156 hp) and Veloce (280 hp) variants. Together, they account for 46% of the orders recorded during this period. This proportion even rises to 65% among private customers, evidence of a growing interest in this new offering.

An Electric Dynamic

More broadly, the progress of electric vehicles is clear. Since the beginning of the year, registrations of zero-emission models have reached 39% of Alfa Romeo’s mix in France, compared to 17% in the first quarter of 2025 and 21% for the whole of last year. A rapid evolution, driven notably by rising fuel prices and a product strategy now clearly aimed at electrification.

According to Alain Descat, director of Alfa Romeo France, this transition is also explained by the brand’s ability to preserve its DNA: the joy of driving. The test drives offered throughout France aim to convince customers that electric models can provide comparable sensations while improving the total cost of ownership.

However, it is difficult not to feel a twinge of nostalgia when thinking of Alfa Romeo’s great thermal days, its singing engines, and its distinctly Latin temperament. But the movement is underway and fully embraced by the brand with the Biscione.

Now remains an essential question: will this electric bet be a winning one in the long term?
