A Twingo Reimagined by Sabine Marcelis

For the 30th anniversary of the iconic diamond-shaped car, Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis collaborated with Renault on an electric Twingo.

A accomplished artist 

Contemporary artist Sabine Marcelis has collaborated with many companies, including IKEA and also fashion brands such as Isabelle Marrant and Céline. She then took on the project of redesigning the emblematic Twingo. 

Despite the various materials used, the Twingo remains recognizable and retains its usual appearance. 

The Dutch artist shared her thoughts on this collaboration in the statement: “The collaboration with Renault started with an invitation to rethink the Twingo as part of celebrating its 30th anniversary. It was a fantastic opportunity and a new exploration for me because I had never designed a car before. Working on such an iconic and popular vehicle was a real challenge, especially considering the scale of the project. It was an opportunity to create something truly innovative and memorable.”

This is not the first time Renault has called on a designer to revisit a car  

Before Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis, Renault had already partnered with Mathieu Lehanneur, who at the time collaborated with the French brand on a 4L in 2021 for the 60th anniversary of the car. The French artist designed the car, resulting in SUITE N°4. 

Moreover, the French company also collaborated with Pierre Gonalons for the 50th anniversary of the R5, with a R5 Diamant concept in 2022.

Perhaps we will see new collaborations in the future with another flagship model of the brand, like the Kangoo.
