Rolls Royce Electrique

The retrofit company Electrogenic has brought a 1929 Rolls-Royce back to life by installing an electric drivetrain.

Wouldn’t it be the pinnacle of class to ride in a 1920s Rolls-Royce rather than in a flavorless German Pullman or a tacky SUV?

At the request of a wealthy private collector and environmentally passionate, the English company Electrogenic restored a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II by converting it to electric. Against the mechanical upheavals of the era, the smells, and the difficulty of sourcing spare parts, electric power has restored the nobility of this beautiful English limousine, now capable of moving smoothly and silently.

Electric Rolls Royce

With its generous 93 kWh battery, this Phantom II would have an estimated range of 150 miles, or 241 kilometers. Originally, this car was powered by a 6-cylinder inline engine of 7.7 liters… producing only 45 horsepower! The 4-speed transmission was not synchronized, and the top speed was around 130 km/h.

Today, the power reaches 150 kW (204 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. The driving experience is therefore no longer comparable to the original model.

Approximately 18 months of work were required from design to execution, amounting to thousands of hours of labor. One can only imagine the bill for this wealthy collector.
