CUPRA Leon VZ TCR — a limited-edition model straight from the racetrack

CUPRA Leon VZ TCR 2025

As a final goodbye, the Cupra Leon takes one last lap with a VZ TCR edition that aims to become a future collector’s item.

After racking up successes in competition around the world, CUPRA is taking a new step. The Spanish brand unveils the Leon VZ TCR, a radical compact that fully embraces its sporting heritage. Limited to 499 examples, it becomes the most powerful front-wheel-drive Leon ever offered by the manufacturer.

Inspired by the Leon entered in TCR, this special edition acts as a showcase of what CUPRA does best: turning its competition results into innovations for its road cars. The 2.0 turbo engine is bumped here to 325 hp and 420 Nm, an unprecedented figure for a front-wheel-drive Leon. Paired with a 7-speed DSG and an electronically controlled differential, the package promises maximum traction and a 0 to 100 km/h time dispatched in 5.4 seconds.

The top speed is not limited, a detail that nicely illustrates the model’s philosophy.

A chassis tuned like a race car

This Leon VZ TCR doesn’t come from nowhere: it symbolizes the 499 competition Leons built by the brand since its beginnings.

To exploit this powertrain, CUPRA has deeply reworked the suspension and steering. The DCC system reacts to the millisecond, while six-piston Akebono brakes recall those used on the brand’s touring cars. The four copper-colored exhaust outlets deliver a raspier sound, designed to enhance the experience without tipping into caricature.

The Leon VZ TCR also stands out with a completely redesigned interior. The rear seats disappear, replaced by a brace bar and a racing-style net. Up front, four-point harnesses equip the CUPBucket seats, while a laser-engraved plate identifies each unit.

This transformation, rarely seen on a road-legal model, brings the Spanish compact closer to a true track car.

A style defined by aerodynamics

Stylistically, the model adopts many exclusive elements:
• Specific roof spoiler
• Widened side skirts
• Front and rear splitters
• Sharpened diffuser
• Dedicated lightweight wheels
• 245 mm tires
A new side graphic, inspired by a minimalist racing livery, gives this limited series its own visual identity.

Before the arrival of this road-legal TCR, the brand will launch in the first quarter of 2026 the Leon VZ, a first limited run of 1,500 units that will use the same 325-hp engine, but with a more versatile character. A model designed for those who want to feel CUPRA’s racing DNA without tipping into the extreme.
