Carrefour: A Scanner to Analyze the Inner Workings of Cars
This page is translated from the original post "Carrefour : un scanner pour analyser les entrailles des voitures" in French.

This new service, deployed at a limited number of Carrefour stores, allows for a quick assessment of a car’s condition in view of a potential sale.
As part of a partnership with the Lyon-based company ProovStation, Carrefour has installed automotive scanners in the parking lots of several hypermarkets. This equipment, which from afar resembles a traditional car wash station, can rapidly analyze the condition of a vehicle. The automotive scanner also assesses tire wear using Michelin QuickScan technology. It thus allows a precise vehicle valuation and facilitates potential resale.
A Fully Automated Process
Before passing the vehicle through the scanner, the user must input the mileage and other information at a kiosk. Then, the station analyzes the car’s insides in just 3 seconds and automatically generates a diagnosis. Based on this diagnosis and other data, the company BCA Group makes a firm purchase offer. The owner, who also receives a report of observed damages, has 7 days to accept or decline it.
If they decide to sell the car, they are invited to schedule an online appointment to sign the digital sales contract. They will then receive the funds within 24 to 48 hours. The purchased vehicle is directly collected from their home or, if preferred, from their workplace. Administrative procedures are handled by ProovStation and its partners.
Two Carrefour locations currently offer the service, with a third coming soon
Accessible six days a week, the service is free and does not require an appointment. It was launched in July at two Carrefour centers: in Vénissieux (136 Boulevard Joliot Curie) and Aix-en-Provence (1175 Rue Guillaume Du Vair Pole). By the start of the school year, another Carrefour in the Île-de-France region will also offer it.
