A Big V8 and Ten Speeds for the Chevrolet Silverado

If the Chevrolet Silverado doesn’t ring a bell, in the United States it’s an automotive icon. The old one, with its large gasoline engines!

While the entire world is eyes on electric vehicles, the United States instead celebrates with fervor their unwavering love for pickups and glorious oil on the legendary Indianapolis circuit. On March 31, 2025, thirty-nine brand-new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RSTs, all identical, were lined up on the main straight of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, announcing the imminent arrival of the biggest American auto race, the Indianapolis 500. These vehicles, called “Festival Event Vehicles,” have been a well-established tradition since the 1960s, signaling to local residents the approach of the Indy 500.

And the least we can say is that these pickups do not go unnoticed. With their 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 420 horsepower, a 10-speed automatic transmission, bumpers and handles matching the body color, as well as an active dual exhaust with sport mode, the Silverado 1500 RST 2025 embody power and adrenaline the American way. Manufactured at the historic Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, they feature Summit White Tintcoat paint, a Jet Black leather interior, 22-inch glossy black aluminum wheels, and custom Indianapolis 500 graphics.

“Offering these vehicles is an iconic tradition in the countdown to the Indy 500,” said Alyssa Haba, head of motorsport strategic planning at Chevrolet. “Seeing them cruise the roads of central Indiana reflects Chevrolet’s shared passion and IMS’s (Indy 500 promoter) for this legendary race.” The 109th edition of the Indy 500 will take place on May 25. Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Chevrolet, now present in 80 countries, continues to stay true to its roots and American spirit.
