Omoda 5 Hybrid: 224 HP for €30,990, but a Rival Within Its Own Family
- Published on 21/10/2026 11:08
With this non-plug-in hybrid SUV, Omoda arrives in France with a well-known recipe: plenty of equipment and an attractive price. Now it remains to carve out its place, including against other models from the Chery group.
Another new name to remember in French dealerships. After the Omoda 7 and 9, the Chinese brand expands its offering with the Omoda 5 hybrid, offered from €30,990 in Premium trim. A price that makes you want to check out the specifications, even without knowing the badge.
Under the hood, this SUV pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, for a combined power of 224 hp. Its small 1.83 kWh battery does not plug in: it is a conventional hybrid, whose use does not require any charging stations. The manufacturer announces a 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a combined WLTP consumption of 5.2 l/100 km. These figures will need to be tested in daily traffic.
It doesn’t lack much…
Equipment is the other selling point. A 15.6-inch central screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated and ventilated front seats, Sony audio system: the Omoda 5 takes care of its presentation. The warranty reaches seven years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first, and according to the manufacturer’s conditions.
However, not everything is generous. The trunk shows 372 liters, a capacity that invites families to come with their luggage before signing. The quoted price also excludes road registration fees and any potential penalties.
Moreover, the competition begins in the same showroom. The Jaecoo 7 hybrid starts at €29,990, which is €1,000 less. Therefore, the Omoda will need to convince with its equipment and personality. An attractive price draws attention; it doesn’t always suffice to secure the decision.
