Tesla: The Real Silent Revolution is Underway

Away from announcements, Tesla is methodically continuing the deployment of its automated driving on the Old Continent.

At Tesla, big spectacular announcements are no longer the norm. While the spotlight regularly shines on new models, price cuts, or promises from Elon Musk, the American manufacturer is also conducting a much quieter offensive: the gradual rollout of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in Europe.

The latest step is Belgium, just a week after Denmark. A rapid progression made possible by the national recognition of the approval initially granted by the Dutch authorities. A method that helps avoid the heavy burdens of harmonization at the European Union level.

To live happily, let’s live hidden

This discretion is no coincidence. Despite its ambitious name, the FSD is still an advanced assistance system requiring constant monitoring by the driver. In other words, full autonomy is still far off. The software learns, progresses, and improves as miles accumulate on open roads.

Like a child learning to walk, the system still makes mistakes. However, here, the potential consequences are infinitely more sensitive than merely spilling a bowl of mashed potatoes on the living room floor. In a context where every incident involving an autonomous car immediately makes headlines and attracts the attention of regulators, caution has become a strategic necessity.

Tesla seems to have fully integrated this reality. Rather than multiplying triumphant statements, the manufacturer now prefers to highlight the safety data collected in the field. In the Netherlands, the company claims that vehicles using FSD Supervised recorded 3.5 times fewer collisions than those driven manually during the observed period.
