Suzuki reveals the prices of the new electric Vitara
Suzuki launches the e Vitara, its first 100% electric SUV, combining modern technology and the heritage of the thermal adventurer.
The Suzuki e Vitara, measuring 4.28 meters in length, introduces the new HEARTECT-e platform, specifically developed with Toyota for electric vehicles. This structure combines lightweight design, high-voltage safety, and habitability thanks to a long wheelbase and short overhangs. The SUV’s design retains the robust spirit of the Vitara while showcasing modern technology.
Three powertrains and two types of transmissions are offered. The e Vitara will be available in France with three engine configurations:
- 106 kW / 144 hp with a 49 kWh battery and front-wheel drive,
- 128 kW / 174 hp with a 61 kWh battery and front-wheel drive,
- 135 kW / 184 hp with a 61 kWh battery and electric all-wheel drive AllGrip-e.
The maximum range reaches 426 km in the mixed WLTP cycle, with standard 11 kW AC fast charging and very fast DC charging, from 10 to 80% in less than 45 minutes. The AllGrip-e versions allow for the selection of different driving modes, including a TRAIL mode for rugged paths.
The range is simple and well thought out with only three trim levels:
- Advantage: complete equipment right from the base model with a 10.25″ driver screen, a 10.1″ central screen, 18″ wheels, parking sensors, blind spot detectors, and adaptive cruise control.
- Privilege: heated seats and steering wheel, heated mirrors, and additional rear vents.
- Style: enhanced technology and comfort, matrix LED headlights, 360° camera, glass roof, INFINITY by Harman audio system, and mixed upholstery.
Transitioning to 100% electric: a real challenge for the Vitara
Customers can choose from 11 colors, including five bi-tone options, with two metallic paint options. Prices start at €28,500, reflecting Suzuki’s intention to offer an accessible electric SUV.
Transforming an iconic model like the Vitara into a 100% electric vehicle represents a real challenge. The brand retains a historic name while introducing entirely new technology. This raises the question: should a classic be adapted or should a completely new electric model be created from the ground up? This transition highlights both Suzuki’s ambition and the constraints associated with the heritage of a legendary SUV.
