Tesla Model 3 2022: Prices and Delivery Times Increase

With an increase up to 2,000 euros, the Tesla Model 3 lineup is less attractive, and delivery times are extended up to 9 months.

In the French market, the American sedan is starting the year quite well. The Tesla Model 3 is already the number 1 electric car, with a total of 2,717 units sold in January and February. It thus surpasses the Dacia Spring and the Renault ZOE and aims for the throne once again. However, delivery delays could penalize it.

Inflation from 1,190 to 2,000 euros

After an update on the manufacturer’s official website, we observed a change in the offerings. The Model 3’s starting price has increased, going from 43,800 to 44,990 euros. For a 36-month lease with 10,000 km per year, the monthly payment rises to €376.48. This is not surprising, as Tesla has already accustomed us to numerous pricing changes. Despite the increase, the sedan remains below the €45,000 threshold to maintain the full ecological bonus of 6,000 euros.

This base version has the same features as before. It has a rear motor of 239 kW (320 hp)/450 Nm and a battery pack providing 491 kilometers of range. It represents a solid entry-level option compared to the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, also affected by inflation.

This version has increased from €53,990 to €55,990, after another €1,000 hike in 2021. It is now closer to the Performance version at €59,990 with the unchanged price, but both are eligible for only a €1,000 bonus.

Tesla Model 3 delivery times tripled up to 9 months

The main information is the significant increase in delivery times. Previously, the Model 3 had an average wait of about 3 months. But after the range update, the first available units are now expected in November 2022, meaning a wait of 9 months!

In reality, it only takes choosing among the 4 optional colors and paying an extra €1,190 to push the delivery back to August 2022. This applies to both increased models, Standard and Long Range, but the Performance retains a shorter wait time of 2 to 3 months, estimated for May 2022.

Our German, Spanish, British, and Belgian neighbors are better off, with waiting times of up to August at worst for their orders. Perhaps a French exception? The cousin SUV, the Tesla Model Y, has an availability window between April and May 2022. The brand might rely on the opening of the Gigafactory Berlin (Germany) to deliver these vehicles.
