Car Sharing: Shaary Arrives in Nice with XEV Yoyo

After Marseille and Strasbourg, Shaary is setting up in a third city.

Shaary is expanding its activities in the city of Nice. The mobility operator has just announced that it is launching its short-term electric vehicle rental service there. The cars in the fleet are XEV Yoyo, small two-seater vehicles already familiar to Turinese.

Until now, Shaary had limited its operations to the cities of Marseille and Strasbourg. In Strasbourg, the company has a fleet of Dacia Spring, while in Marseille, Estrima Biro vehicles have been favored.

A small electric car from Italy

The Yoyo was developed by XEV, an Italian company founded in 2018. Fully electric, it features a removable battery pack. This solution appeals to car-sharing operators because it avoids the issue of charging. A vehicle with a fixed battery is necessarily immobilized for several hours during recharging. With a removable battery, the car can be back in service much more quickly, as replacing an empty battery with a full one only takes a few seconds.

Regarding its specifications, the XEV Yoyo has a rated power of 7.5 kW (11 kW peak). It can reach a top speed of 80 km/h and offers an estimated range of around 150 km in urban areas. It measures just over 2.5 meters long and weighs 450 kilos without the battery.

A service billed at 35 cents per minute

To use a Shaary vehicle, you must be over 21 years old and have a driving license for more than 2 years. Reservations are made via a dedicated app available on the App Store or Google Store. The cost to rent a Yoyo is 35 cents per minute, plus an additional €1.50 for unlocking the vehicle. When the rental is paused, the per-minute cost drops by 15 cents.
