Turkey launches its Togg electric cars

New Turkish national manufacturer, Togg, introduced its first fully electric production cars this Saturday.
The Vinfast in Vietnam model does not seem isolated. Will each country have its own national car manufacturer? No, but Turkey certainly wished to, 61 years after the Devrim experiment in 1961. The country has thus created Togg, a new electric car brand.
Five cars by 2030 and an infrastructure to build
On Saturday, October 29th, the event was spectacular, with thousands of people attending the ceremony. Togg celebrated its inauguration for nearly two hours, ending with a speech from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The goal is clear, with a 15-year vision to generate $50 billion in revenue, 5,000 jobs, and 20,000 indirect jobs.
By 2030, Togg hopes to launch a lineup of five vehicles. It all begins with a large electric SUV, simply named “C-SUV”. The first cars, produced at the Gemlik factory, were showcased during the event, although customer deliveries will only start in early 2023.

Two other cars have already taken shape, the “C” sedan and its crossover version “C-X”. The last two electric models remain unknown, visible only under virtual cover in the official image. Togg’s electric cars are expected to attempt to conquer the European market, but the manufacturer has not announced a detailed plan on this yet.
To develop fast charging infrastructure, Togg launched a subsidiary called “Trugo”. It will aim to cover the 81 provinces of Turkey, with charging stations up to 300 kW in partnership with Turkish company Vestel, Anglo-Dutch Shell, German Siemens, and Chinese Star Charge Global.
