Cityscoot launches a platform to report improperly parked scooters

Cityscoot has just announced the launch of the “Balance ton scoot” platform. Through this initiative, the scooter-sharing operator claims to be fighting against the obstructive parking of motorized two-wheelers in the city.

The principle is simple: as soon as someone notices a poorly parked or even damaged two-wheeler, they can report it directly on the platform. Reporting is quick: just specify the location (facilitated by geolocation), the nature of the problem (obstructive parking or damaged vehicle), the scooter type, and the license plate, along with a photo. The report is then sent to Cityscoot’s teams, who alert their field operators.

Balance ton scoot accepts all reports: those concerning Cityscoot scooters, of course, but also reports of other shared scooters or even personal motorized two-wheelers. The operator can only intervene on scooters from its fleet, but it also intends to make its tool available to competing services. And later on, Cityscoot would have no hesitation working with public authorities. This is also why the company promotes the presumed effectiveness of its platform, which, compared to scattered reports on social networks, would lead to a significant reduction in response times.

Why such zeal? The question deserves to be asked, especially for an approach that encourages reporting. Like its competitors, Cityscoot is trying to save itself in the capital, where the municipality will soon limit the number of scooter-sharing operators to three. Since there are four, one will inevitably be disappointed. Perhaps the initiative by Cityscoot should be seen as a seduction operation aimed at Parisian officials, who generally do not hide their hostility towards motorized two-wheelers.
