Legendre: The New Bicycle for the Voltaire Brand

The French brand Voltaire returns with its new bike for 2023 called “Legendre”. It will be marketed starting today in a non-connected version.

Following the Courcelles and Bellecour models released in 2021 and 2022, another “vintage” electric bike model makes its first rounds. Priced at €2,390 including tax (+ €250 with the connected device), the Voltaire brand hopes to stand out again with its unique style and ease of use.

The bike is marketed in a non-connected version starting today and will be available in a connected version from June 2023. The Voltaire “Legendre” benefits from small technological innovations that will allow you to travel in the city for distances between 45 and 70 km.

The bike isn’t very light: it weighs 21.9 kg, almost one kilo more than its predecessor, the Bellecour. In addition, the Voltaire Legendre is one-size-fits-all and suitable for cyclists taller than 1.70 meters.

What are the specifications of the Voltaire Legendre bike?

Classified as an electric assist bicycle (EAB), the Voltaire Legendre will allow you to move easily through the urban jungle thanks to multiple technological tools.

Like its predecessors, the EAB has a removable battery located in the seat tube. Convenient for easy charging! Speaking of the battery, it weighs 2.5 kg and has a capacity of 36 V with lithium-ion cells. A full charge on the mains takes about 2.5 hours, according to the brand.

For safety, the bike features a front LED light of 100 lux and an integrated rear light in the fender. Additionally, an anti-theft system is attached to the rear wheel in the form of a “AXA Solid Plus” wheel lock. A small bell at the front of the bike will help you signal pedestrians or obstacles in your path.

For mechanics enthusiasts, the bike can reach the legally permitted maximum speed of 25 km/h regulations thanks to a 35 Nm torque motor weighing 1.5 kg. According to the manufacturer, this is equivalent to a mechanical torque of 65 Nm. The transmission is belt-driven with an aluminum 58T crankset. The tension is adjusted via an eccentric bottom bracket with an opening on the seat stays.

Some additional information about the Legendre bike

Three colors are available for the Legendre model: British green, midnight blue, and graphite gray.

The bike wheels are 28 inches, and the rims are “MACH 1 double wall”. The tires, on the other hand, are “47-559 Schwalbe Road Cruiser Plus Green Compound”, with 3 mm puncture-resistant strips. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy it, especially if you’re considering using it for part of the Paris-Roubaix stretch on cobblestones!

The frame and fork are made of aluminum. Lastly, note that converting the bike to a connected version is possible, giving access to a small 1.3” OLED control screen with two buttons.
