Opel Corsa: a facelift that changes everything! (video)

German-developed from the Peugeot e-208, the Opel Corsa Electric benefits from a very successful mid-cycle facelift. Range has also significantly improved.
This proves that the source of success—or failure—of a car is its design, Opel has never been so well regarded since the German manufacturer joined the PSA Peugeot-Citroën group in 2017, then Stellantis in 2021. A major styling overhaul has been carried out, along with a relevant approach to sharing mechanical platforms. In short, Opels are now rebadged Peugeots or Citroëns, but with a distinctive feature that makes all the difference…

While the Peugeot e-208 is praised for its performance, one aspect has hampered it since its launch—the cockpit with the steering wheel that falls onto the knees. The wheel prevents reading the information cluster (speed, rpm, trip, consumption, etc.). This inconsistency was criticized… but Opel wisely chose not to replicate it! So much so that the Corsa might be the best version of the original model it is based on. An irony.
This new 2023 model continues the stylistic unification of the Opel range with the adoption of the very understated “Opel Vizor” grille. It notably incorporates new LED headlights (depending on trims), while the rear also benefits from a slight facelift.

Under the hood, the Opel Corsa Electric (its name) is equipped with Stellantis’ new powertrain platform already seen on the Citroën ë-C4 and Peugeot e-2008, featuring a 115 kW (about 156 hp) motor and a new battery with revised chemistry. The combination offers an estimated WLTP range of 402 km in mixed cycle. The previous model had 100 kW (136 hp) and 357 km of range on the same test. Fast charging can boost the battery from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes, but Opel has not yet disclosed the maximum charging power or the battery’s net capacity. It appears to be the same 54 kW capacity as its Peugeot and Citroën counterparts.

Inside, the design also evolves significantly with the integration of a new 10-inch touchscreen multimedia display.
Finally, for those who do not wish to switch to electric, the range will still include combustion and hybrid options (100 and 136 hp with automatic transmission). A rationalization will be undertaken in the next generation of the Opel Corsa… which will then be 100% electric.
