Tesla Berlin Gigafactory Connected by Train Despite Remote Location

The only European factory of Tesla struggles to find employees mainly due to its geographic location. A train could solve this issue.
Mobiwisy recently discussed Tesla’s production challenges at its Berlin factory. The main concern was the lack of workforce, as candidates were discouraged by the salary levels, work rhythms… but also the distance from the federal capital of the country.
Since the factory bears the name Berlin-Brandenburg, it is still about an hour’s drive (fair conditions assumed) to the east, and slightly less by public transport. Under these circumstances, recruiting the 11,000 employees needed for smooth operation is difficult.

To partially address this issue, the factory has purchased a railway line to the Erkner station and will connect it to the regional train network via a new station called Grünheide. The journey will still be relatively long, but Tesla will complement this with a shuttle rotation, running 60 times a day, transporting approximately 4,500 workers to this station.
Tesla specifies that this line will be operational from Monday, September 4, 2023, and will be free for its employees. Will this be enough to boost the production of the Model Y and, soon, the evolution of the Model 3? Tesla has no choice if it wants to meet its European goals.
