Toyota aims to reduce CO2 emissions from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games by 50% compared to the previous Olympic and Paralympic Games

Toyota, the global partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), unveiled its mobility concept for Paris 2024. The company will provide sustainable mobility solutions for athletes, officials, volunteers, accredited journalists, and spectators, emphasizing inclusivity, sustainability, and mobility for all. 2,674 transport vehicles and 700 individual mobility products for the “last mile” will be deployed during the French Olympics.

Virtuous Last-Mile Mobility

Toyota will notably provide around 250 units of the battery-electric individual vehicles C+walk S (seated version) and C+walk T (standing version). Both vehicles have a maximum speed of 6 km/h and are equipped with obstacle detection systems at the front to ensure the safety of the driver and surrounding people. The seated version will be used by athletes, organizers, and volunteers, while the standing version will be offered to staff and volunteers for their movements around the Paris 2024 venues.

For people with reduced mobility, Toyota will also provide 50 “motorized third wheels,” which will be available in the athletes’ Village throughout the Games. An additional 150 units will be made available during the Paralympic Games opening ceremony so that wheelchair users can participate in this unique event.

An Olympic Toyota Fleet

In total, more than 2,650 electrified passenger vehicles from the Toyota group will be used during the Paris 2024 Games, including 150 wheelchair-accessible vehicles. About 60% of this fleet will be electric, including Toyota bZ4X, Proace, and Proace Verso models, as well as battery-electric Lexus RZ models (BEV) and 500 Toyota Mirai fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). After the Games, these 500 vehicles will join the existing hydrogen-taxi fleet in Paris, which will more than double in size, surpassing 1,500 FCEV vehicles.

150 Toyota Proace Verso electric vans equipped for wheelchair access will facilitate travel for members of the Olympic and Paralympic family who need such vehicles. After the Paris 2024 Games, all vehicles will remain in the Paris region, where they will be used for special transportation services for wheelchair users.
