The RER NG enters service on the RER E Line
This page is translated from the original post "Le RER NG entre en fonction sur la Ligne RER E" in French.

The first New Generation RER (RER NG) has been put into commercial service this week on the RER E line.
The inauguration of this first RER NG train was followed by a first journey between Haussmann Saint-Lazare and Chelles-Gournay stations.

This deployment of the 4th generation of rolling stock marks a significant milestone in the rollout of RER NG on line E, with plans for the next year on line D, as well as an additional step in the EOLE project, extending RER E westward. The RER NG will complement the new trains already in circulation, including the 300 “Franciliens” and the Régio2N trains being deployed on Île-de-France lines. More than 1,000 new or renovated trains and metros are already operating across the Île-de-France Mobilités network.

Designed specifically to offer a high level of comfort for travelers, the RER NG features attention to seat design and grip points that are adapted to different journey durations, as well as large panoramic glazed windows for more natural light. Additionally, it includes counting cells that automatically control air conditioning and heating, energy-efficient LED lighting that is more powerful and suited to each phase of the journey (day, night, and station stops), multiple USB charging ports, numerous dynamic passenger information screens, and enhanced video surveillance security.

Key figures of the new RER NG rolling stock (or Z 58000) on line RER E
- 130 train sets of 112m composed of 6 cars and 4 doors per car (2 per side);
- 1,550 seats per train, including 501 seated, accommodating up to 3,100 passengers in multiple units, with 1,000 seats;
- 20% more seats compared to current MI 2N EOLE trains;
- Maximum speed of 140 km/h;
- 8 powered bogies;
- 25% less energy consumption.
