Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Area Leading in Car Sharing

Getaround, the leader of car-sharing in Europe, reports a positive assessment of the partnership signed in 2021 with the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis launched its car-sharing label in 2019. Upon obtaining it in 2021, Getaround promoted the initiative of a 100% electric partnership, providing two vehicles. After two years of collaboration, the success is evident: many residents of the Metropolis and passing tourists have discovered an electric car-sharing service for a few hours or days thanks to the Getaround offer. Indeed, 40% of users had never tried car-sharing before. Consequently, the partnership offer was tripled, increasing to six available electric vehicles.
Beyond the labeled vehicles, more than 200 Getaround vehicles circulate in the Metropolis through car-sharing. Half of this fleet is equipped with Connect technology, which allows users to access vehicles 24/7 directly via the app, without needing to schedule an appointment with the owner to retrieve the key.
Getaround has committed to contribute to the ecological transition by setting a goal of a 100% electric fleet by 2040. The partnership with the Nice Metropolis aligns with this commitment: it has paved the way for other electric partnerships in France, such as in Arcueil or Rueil-Malmaison in Île-de-France. Additionally, Getaround plans to extend this type of service to other cities within the Nice Metropolis, with Cagnes-sur-Mer in sight.
- 2 vehicles rented on average 10 times per month for a median duration of 25 hours
- An occupancy rate of over 60% on weekdays, up to 76% on weekends
- 40% of users discovered car-sharing through this service, a significantly higher figure than in other areas offering similar services with thermal vehicles.
