Toyota Urban, the perfect size at the right price?

Cars are certainly no longer welcome in European city centers, but new zero-emission models are changing the game.
Unveiling its new Urban SUV Concept today, Toyota clarifies its future strategy regarding 100% battery-electric vehicles for Europe. Presented at Toyota’s Kenshiki Forum held annually in Brussels, this concept car previews a new series model that will be exclusively 100% battery-electric, with a launch scheduled for 2024. This new model will be the most compact and accessible within a future lineup of six models that will be entirely battery-electric.

Measuring 4.30 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, and 1.62 meters high, this Urban stands out from the Yaris Cross and is unlikely to encroach on the successful hybrid’s territory. Its dimensions place it directly in competition with best-sellers like Peugeot e-2008, MG ZS EV, and Volvo EX30. A segment where competition is fierce, but Toyota loves a challenge!

Designed for urban use, as its name suggests, the Urban SUV Concept embraces its identity as a genuine SUV, with a compact body style and an elevated driving position. Front-wheel drive and/or four-wheel drive options are planned, with all-wheel drive being a core element of Toyota’s DNA. Likewise, the production model will offer customers a choice between two batteries with different capacities, allowing them to select the option that best fits their needs and priorities, in terms of range and price.
