Toyota Hilux Dakar

The new Toyota GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U at Dakar is powered by fuels containing 70% renewable materials.

Toyota continues its commitment to a more sustainable future even in the dunes, with an eye on the Dakar Future project. As part of its involvement in this project, Toyota Gazoo Racing has partnered with Repsol to achieve the required goals well before the 2026 deadline.

Repsol supplies Toyota Gazoo Racing with fuels containing 70% renewable materials, utilizing advanced biofuels that allow for a reduction of at least 70% in carbon footprint compared to conventional gasoline. These renewable fuels were designed and produced at the Repsol Technology Lab in Madrid from reusable waste, such as used cooking oil. They are produced in certified facilities under the European sustainability program ISCC, and both the raw materials and production processes meet the sustainability requirements of the European Renewable Energy Directive.

Toyota Gazoo Racing has been a key research and development partner for Repsol over the past 18 months. Starting with bench tests, then intensive field trials of Repsol’s renewable fuel 70R+ in various locations, with the latest pre-Dakar tests recently completed in Namibia. The blend used by the team was formulated exclusively for Toyota Gazoo Racing, in accordance with FIA regulations.
