What is the best-selling brand of the Stellantis Group?

It sold 1.35 million cars worldwide in 2023, an increase of 12%. Here’s a hint, it’s Italian!

You got it right, Stellantis’s top brand by sales volume is Fiat! The brand leads in its four “home markets” with a market share of 21.8% in Brazil, 12.8% in Italy, 15.7% in Turkey, and 78.6% in Algeria, with different models topping the sales charts: Fiat Strada in Brazil, Panda in Italy, Tipo in Turkey and Algeria.

Leading Fiat’s electrification strategy, the 500e remains a success with a 14.7% market share in Europe, still growing. It also ranked first in Italy, Germany, Spain, Belgium, and Austria, and second in France.

Impressive figures, but this small model is a bit like the tree hiding the European Fiat lineup’s desert. Sure, there’s the 600 which is having a nice career, but apart from that… Fiat, however, has a much richer lineup for Africa and South America.

In 2023, Fiat made progress in South America where the brand is the leader with a 14.5% market share and more than 542,000 units registered (which is 45,300 cars more than in 2022), and over 94,600 cars ahead of the second place. From sedans, budget city cars, pickups, nothing is missing except electric vehicles, which no one wants there!

Similarly in Africa, especially in the Turkish market, where, with 15.7% market share, Fiat has been the leading car brand for five consecutive years. This success is mainly based on the Fiat Egea, the most sold vehicle in Turkey for the eighth year running. You don’t know the Egea? Normal, in Europe we called it Tipo and we no longer want it because it’s gasoline-powered, thus banned from our dear, do-good continent.

Fiat’s recipe is ultimately simple. Give everyone what they want. A small, electric city car that’s expensive but very chic for Europe, sturdy pickups to tackle South American terrain, and well-made, robust sedans for the African continent.
