Goodyear Tires for the Citroën ë-C3

Citroën has chosen the American manufacturer to equip its new ë-C3 electric models as original equipment.

The new Citroën ë-C3 is the first affordable versatile city car, designed and manufactured entirely in Europe. To equip this model, which carries much of the brand’s hopes for the coming decade, the double chevron manufacturer has chosen the winged-shoe manufacturer.

Goodyear will supply the EfficientGrip Performance 2, a summer tire developed to offer low rolling resistance and increase electrical efficiency and range. The high elasticity and flexibility of the tread contribute to reducing tire wear caused by difficult road conditions without compromising performance on wet or dry roads.

A different kind of tires

This new partnership further strengthens Goodyear’s “Ready for EV” strategy. Two new logos have appeared on the sidewalls of the tires to inform consumers about their compatibility with electric or hybrid vehicles, whether rechargeable or not. These logos, Electric Drive Technology (EDT) and Electric Drive Ready (EDR), indicate the use of technologies that meet the specific characteristics of an electric vehicle, such as high load capacity, maneuverability, and noise reduction.

With more weight and torque, tires are subjected to new constraints on electric cars, and all major market players are working on this issue. An original equipment agreement like the one between Citroën and Goodyear allows for sharing the development costs of these new products, and the future offers endless prospects.
