Up to €10,000 in discounts at MG for 7 days, and afterwards?

Until March 30th, MG is offering generous electric incentives on its 100% electric models without Bonus.

MG achieved a diabolical breakthrough in France thanks to three electric models. The MG4 sedan, the MG5 station wagon, and the Marvel R SUV. Three models with attractive looks, impeccable finishes, and above all, offered at unbeatable prices. In a completely crazy automotive market, it’s about looking good and being good, but most importantly, not expensive.

Disaster struck on December 15th when these three models lost the generous Ecological Bonus. We wondered for a moment if MG could recover from this sanction, but the Sino-British manufacturer quickly responded with an unbeatable weapon: very generous discounts!

Initially increased to 5,000 euros for all electrified models, this incentive has continued to evolve. Here’s what the manufacturer is offering for March 2024.

Three MGs, three levels

Let’s start with the best-selling in 2023, the MG4. It logically receives the smallest discount with a reduction of 5,000 euros. A sedan with a reasonable size, well above the typical inflation in dimensions, that’s what MG4 has committed to. It measures just under 4.30 meters, precisely 4.29 meters, and boasts a tight turning radius that allows it to navigate city streets easily and park efficiently. The advantage of the MG4 electric is that it offers a true range of models from launch, including the famous Standard entry-level version with 51 kWh and 170 hp. But also higher-end versions with a 204 hp motor and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 64 kWh battery. Paradoxically, the smaller model performs better. This is because its lower weight of about 30 kg compensates for the slight power deficit, especially since its torque matches that of the 204 hp version. Acceleration is high-level (0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds), and the overall performance remains excellent.

For the MG5, the discount is 7,000 euros off the total price. This electric station wagon measures 4.6 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, and 1.52 meters high. It is comparable in size to a Peugeot 308 SW or Renault Mégane Estate. In terms of trunk capacity, MG claims 479 liters with the rear seats up, and 1,367 liters when folded down. The lines of the MG5 are balanced but some find them a bit lackluster. Two versions are available. The first has a 50.3 kWh battery, powering a 130 kW motor and 260 Nm of torque. The extended-range version is equipped with a 61.1 kWh battery. The torque is 280 Nm, but the power drops to 115 kW, with little impact on performance. Regardless of the version, the Chinese electric station wagon accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h.

The Marvel R offers an even better deal with €10,000 off, nearly a quarter of its price. This applies only to certain new vehicles in stock. The MG Marvel R is a well-made electric SUV. It measures 4.67 meters in length, 1.92 meters in width, and 1.62 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.8 meters. Its trunk capacity is 357 liters, which can be expanded to 1,396 liters with the rear seats folded down. Equipped with a three-motor configuration, the Marvel R belongs to the exclusive club of tri-motor models. In its all-wheel-drive setup, it delivers 212 kW (288 hp) and up to 665 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 200 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. The Marvel R is also available in rear-wheel-drive version, with two electric motors on the rear axle producing 180 horsepower. Its 0 to 100 km/h time increases to 7.9 seconds, and the top speed remains 200 km/h. The estimated WLTP range is 400 km, but realistically closer to 370 km per charge.
