Arai’s “star” jet helmet gets a new look

There are brands and objects that have become icons. The Arai SZ is a perfect illustration in the field of motorcycle helmets.

It dates back to 1988 when the first Arai SZ open-face helmet was introduced, paving the way for this dynasty. It perfectly suited urban life and two-wheel riding in Tokyo. Over the past 35 years, it has continually evolved to become one of the brand’s best-sellers in Europe. Each new SZ brought its share of upgrades for improved comfort, performance, and safety, ultimately becoming a highly technical product. Sporty for some, touring for others, trendy urban for others, it has crossed generations without ceasing to enhance its reputation.

Fully redesigned, the compact PB-CLC2 shell of the SZ-R Evo is reinforced with a fiber belt all around the head to make it even more impact-resistant. Thanks to the integration of the VAS screen mounts, like the previous generation but with a lowered position, the reinforcement belt remains very durable and maintains a rounded, smooth shell for better resistance in this area, which is particularly exposed to shocks. Similarly, with this VAS screen design, the field of vision is widened.

Improved Safety and Comfort

The shape of the cheek pad has been modified, with a standard 5 mm thick peelable layer for a more precise fit. The foam has been redesigned to facilitate the passage of glasses arms. A speaker compartment has been provided, and to reduce aerodynamic noise, the foam around the chinstrap attachment has been rethought.
