OFFICIAL: The price of the Tesla Model Y will increase on March 22!

Tesla announced on the social network X that the price of the Model Y will increase in Europe on March 22, 2024. The price is expected to rise by 2000 euros.

But the distrust is then enormous in the used market where prices also keep doing the yo-yo. However, customers like to estimate the residual value of their vehicle. And even more so for companies, whose fleet management is a real headache.

Tesla has always acted this way, adjusting its inventory management and supply and demand in real-time. If there are no cars to deliver, prices increase. If stocks are plentiful, prices decrease. Following the sabotage by environmentalists at the Gigafactory in Berlin and the total halt of production, stocks are depleted. Therefore, it makes sense to increase the margin on the cars that will sell. Peak time, off-peak time, like in cinema.

Up to 2000 euros increase?

In the tweet posted on X, Tesla encourages ordering “in 2 minutes“. You buy a car like you would a smartphone, with then some leases… or 38,990 euros to pay in a lump sum.

Tesla has admitted that the price increase would be around 2000 euros depending on the markets, which would raise the price in France to 44,990 euros before the ecological bonus, which means a real cost of 40,990 euros.

From a purely factual point of view, nothing really explains this price increase while technology continues to decrease. Is it a gift to Tesla’s competitors? That is quite probable. Is there an urgent need to send a message of profitability to financial analysts? That is even more probable!
