VTC Drivers Are Becoming More Female

According to the latest report from the operator Bolt, the number of female ride-hailing drivers in France is experiencing significant growth.

Bolt announces a marked increase in the number of female ride-hailing drivers in France, a sign of notable progress towards greater inclusivity and diversity in the transportation sector. In 2023, the number of female ride-hailing drivers increased by 45% compared to 2022, and the trend continues with a 21% rise since the beginning of 2024.

The profession of ride-hailing driver is becoming more and more attractive to women. This positive development concerns not only the number of female drivers but also their activity on the platform, which has seen an average increase of 24% over the past year.

An Underrepresented Model

However, not everything is perfect, as the activity level of female drivers is 35% below the average of all drivers, logically impacting their average income, which is 32% lower than the average. This situation is quite symptomatic of these so-called “masculine” professions, which remain difficult for women to access. But the momentum has been set in motion. Men would do well to draw inspiration from the female model, as Bolt states that female drivers who displayed the highest activity levels on the platform saw their earnings jump to 250% above the average of all drivers, illustrating not only their engagement but also the viability of the ride-hailing profession for women aspiring to a career in this sector.
