Here is the cheapest new Volkswagen in France!

From a purely factual standpoint, the Volkswagen Polo now costs 17,252 euros in France, but there is a catch…

Following the (much lamented) disappearance of the Up!, which only lacked the dual controls for electric windows on the driver’s side and a light in the trunk, the Volkswagen Polo represents the entry-level model in the German manufacturer’s lineup.

A direct competitor to the Renault Clio and other Peugeot 208, the Volkswagen Polo suffers from a slight lack of personality in a market where distinction is increasingly held up as a banner. As a result, sales are slowing and promotions are multiplying.

Beauty of the Islands?

Offered in the catalog starting at 21,630 euros in its entry-level version (80 hp engine) with an ecological penalty of 125 euros, the Volkswagen Polo is currently available starting at 17,252 euros… on an island. Specifically, Guadeloupe.

Claiming the tax advantage of this overseas department is not an error. Indeed, part of the price difference is based on a reduced VAT (Value Added Tax) from 20% to 8.5% to account for higher transportation costs from the mainland, as well as local purchasing power.

If we apply the VAT rate of 8.5% to the Volkswagen Polo, naively and without factoring in the logistical extra costs, we obtain a real price of 19,558 euros, still far from the proposed 17,252 euros (-2,306 euros). This indicates the level of discount that can be negotiated at dealerships today on a new Volkswagen Polo: at least 10% without much effort in negotiation.

It should be noted that if you were tempted to buy a new car in the DOM-TOM only to bring it back to the mainland, adjustment taxes may apply retroactively. Not a fool, that wasp.
