Has JacklJack found the new Tesla Model Y?

The countdown has been on for over a year, but the launch of the new Tesla Model Y keeps being postponed.

Initially announced for the middle of 2024, the next-generation Tesla Model Y, code “Juniper,” is now expected to be unveiled and sold only in 2025. A year in the automotive market is short, as developing new products takes time due to trials, customer testing, regulatory approvals, etc. It is likely that prototypes of the new Model Y are already among us.

For example, in the case of the new Model 3 Highland, most of the visible changes to the Model Y will likely focus on the design of the front and rear ends. There will certainly be interior adjustments and probably the elimination of many manual controls, but capturing the inside of a car is much harder than its exterior.

Unmistakable Signs

The vehicle photographed by Reddit user JacklJack is therefore highly likely to be a Tesla Model Y Juniper undergoing road tests! The overall shape leaves no doubt about the identity of the vehicle, and the covers on the front and rear are consistent with the intention to conceal a facelift. One can spot a suction cup mount on the interior side of the windshield that doesn’t belong there, supporting an electronic device connected to the dashboard by a cable. Additionally, a box is glued to the roof and powered by another cable that disappears into the cabin. In short, all the attributes of a pre-production prototype in active development.

A little more patience is needed to discover the new electric SUV, but the end of a long wait seems closer than ever.
