Here’s what happens when a young rally champion gets behind the wheel of the new Skoda Octavia RS.

Oliver Solberg usually competes in the FIA World Rally Championship WRC2 driving a Skoda Fabia RS Rally2. It’s safe to say that competition runs in his veins since his father is none other than Peter Solberg, the 2003 WRC World Rally Champion and double WRX World Rallycross Champion in 2014 and 2015. Recently, the 22-year-old Swede seized the opportunity to test the new generation of Skoda Octavia RS. With a 265-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood of the recently restyled sedan, it seems he didn’t need much encouragement…

As crazy as it may seem, the Skoda Octavia has already participated in the World Rally Championship, taking part in 49 events and achieving a podium finish at the Safari Rally in 2001. Not bad for a family car that was already over 4.5 meters long back then! The car debuted at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1999 and raced for four seasons at the top level.
