Tesla Revolutionizes This Menu

When choosing total minimalism for the cabin, why insist on putting so many controls in a menu?

The new streamlined climate control menu from Tesla was unveiled in a recent software update. On a purely technical level, it incorporates several user requests such as a feature that lowers the fan level when the setting is in “Auto” mode during a phone call to reduce ambient noise. But the main change is, of course, the completely redesigned climate control panel.

The new icons are significantly more discreet and spaced out, reducing the chance of accidental manipulation by drivers wishing to adjust the settings. This means fewer distractions, as each adjustment to the climate settings equates to a glance away from the road to the central display.

This simplification is a step in the right direction, offering more possibilities for automatic settings. A more aesthetic interface that will likely be appreciated by the majority of drivers. Others will certainly miss the old design which may have been easier to navigate with its larger buttons. But if one can get used to turn signal controls located on the steering wheel in the form of buttons, then anything is possible.

The minimalist design desired by Tesla is certainly highlighted. Just as it has simplified the interiors of its vehicles, most recently with the new Model 3 “Highland” and even the Cybertruck, Tesla aims to make things as straightforward as possible. We’ll see in practice if that’s the case.
