Fiat relaunches the Tipo diesel starting at 16,900 euros

Far from the trendy Italian image infused in recent years, Fiat reintroduces the old Tipo to compete with the Dacia Logan.

Let’s stick to the facts, and to hell with the prejudices. Fiat is reintroducing in France its aging sedan, the Tipo, launched in 2016, in a diesel 1.6 Multijet version with 130 horsepower. Factually, this positioning is ultra aggressive, even unprecedented in 2024 in Europe.

Should we see this as a desire to compete with Dacia, which is also considering relaunching its Logan? Importers are already handling this from Morocco, where the low-cost sedans of the Renault group are produced.

An unbeatable price/equipment ratio!

This Fiat Tipo offers, as standard, equipment that is far from being ridiculous despite its very competitive price. Manual air conditioning, rearview camera, cruise control, rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, electric front windows, etc.

On the engine side, the surprise is significant, as diesel is no longer in high regard and isn’t known for being so inexpensive. Thus, under the hood, you benefit from a unit developing 130 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. Acceleration is effective (0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds), while CO2 emissions are set at 120 g/km. This results in a very reasonable eco-tax of 100 euros, for a final price of 17,090 euros… before any potential discount.

Weighing in at only 1300 kg unladen, the Fiat Tipo consumes just 4.6 liters per 100 km, meaning its 50-liter tank will ensure more than 1000 km of range. The transmission is a 6-speed manual, the trunk has a capacity of 520 liters, and the 195/65R15 tires are of an economical size.

For more style and equipment, the Tipo City version, sold for 18,900 euros, offers more aesthetic front and rear bumpers, automatic air conditioning, a split-folding rear seat, leather steering wheel and gear knob, height-adjustable driver’s seat, three rear headrests, full LED headlights front and rear, front fog lights, a multimedia screen, a USB port, and more stylish 16-inch wheels.

Just be aware that CO2 emissions rise to 122 g/km, resulting in a tax of 150 euros, for a final price of 19,050 euros… before any discounts.
